Dr. Sandeep Devabhakthuni, PharmD, BCCP
Dr. Sandeep Devabhakthuni received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy. He then completed a pharmacy practice residency at the University of Maryland Medical Center. He returned to Pittsburgh to complete a specialty residency in cardiology and critical care at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Currently, he is a board pharmacotherapy specialist with a clinical practice in the ambulatory heart transplant clinic at the University of Maryland Medical Center. He serves as the associate dean for student affairs at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy. Previously, he served as the director of postgraduate training and oversaw pharmacy residency and fellowship programs from 2016-2023. He serves as past president of the Maryland Society of Health-System Pharmacy and past chair for the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists’ Section of Inpatient Care Practitioners’ Educational Steering Committee. He has been awarded Teacher of the Year by the Doctor of Pharmacy Classes of 2018 and 2020. His current research interests involve the evaluation of the appropriate use of cardiovascular medications and sedation in mechanically ventilated patients.
