Progressive Cardiac Care Service
October 2011 – Present

The University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) is an innovative teaching hospital in Baltimore that provides a full range of health services to people throughout Maryland and the mid-Atlantic region. It is a national and regional referral center for trauma, cancer care, cardiac care, neurocare, women’s and children’s health, and organ transplantation. Established in 1823, UMMC is one of the nation’s first teaching hospitals.

Drs. Devabhakthuni, Roffman, and Watson provide service to patients in the Medical Center’s Progressive Cardiac Care Service. Contributions include: attending and participating in interdisciplinary and medical team rounds daily, obtaining medication histories, recommending changes in pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic regimens when appropriate, assisting with outpatient follow-up, planning and monitoring medications. Additionally, they provide discharge counseling, respond to drug information questions, and conduct medical in-services and educate the team on medical literature and treatment guidelines. Dr. Watson leads projects evaluating the appropriate use of cardiovascular medications for this patient care setting.

This service is also a rotation site for Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences for Students and University of Maryland Residents.
