About Dr. Hynicka

Dr. Hynicka is an associate professor of pharmacotherapy in the Department of Practice, Sciences, and Health Outcomes Research. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy. She went on to complete both a PGY-1 general practice and PGY-2 internal medicine residency at the Virginia Commonwealth University/Medical College of Virginia Health System. She served as a clinical pharmacy specialist on a general internal medicine team at the University of Maryland Medical Center for six years before transitioning into her current role where she manages treatment of HCV infected patients enrolled in Maryland Medicaid. Her teaching, research, and patient care activities focus on the care of patients with chronic liver diseases including; chronic HCV infection. Recent areas of research include streamlining the prior authorization process for HCV medications at a large academic health system and evaluating HCV treatment interruptions.

Research Interests

Dr. Hynicka has a variety of research interests including; transitions of care, infectious diseases, viral hepatitis C, chronic liver disease, provision of care to underserved patients and global health.
