Leah Sera, PharmD
About Dr. Sera:
Dr. Sera received her PharmD from the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy in 2010. She completed a pharmacy practice residency at Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, MD and a specialty residency in pain management and palliative care at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy. She is a board-certified pharmacotherapy specialist.
Dr. Sera is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Science. She maintains an active clinical practice at Medstar Montgomery Medical Center, a community hospital in Olney, MD, where she works with an interdisciplinary inpatient palliative medicine team to care for patients with advanced illness.
Dr. Sera teaches in a variety of courses in the PharmD curriculum, including the skills-based Abilities Lab series, Applied Science and Therapeutics, and Immunology. She also manages a Study Skills elective for first year students in the PharmD program and teaches palliative care topics in several elective courses.
Dr. Sera’s research interests include medication management in hospice patients, implementation of inpatient palliative care pharmacy services and educational research.
