About Dr. Tran:
Deanna Tran, PharmD, BCACP, FAPhA is an associate professor of the Department of Practice, Sciences, and Health Outcomes Research at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy and subsequently completed a PGY-1 community pharmacy residency at Virginia Commonwealth University and Martin’s Pharmacy.
She currently practices as an ambulatory care specialist at the University of Maryland Family and Community medicine practice. From 2017-2019 she served as a clinical pharmacist at the University of Maryland Capital Region Health – Family Health and Wellness at Cheverly’s Inter-professional Care Transition Clinic. Prior to that she a clinical pharmacist for the University of Maryland Anticoagulation Clinic, and the Clinical Programs Consultant for the Landover division of Giant Pharmacy, serving 158 pharmacies in Maryland, Virginia, Delaware, and the District of Columbia. She assisted in the development and implementation of Giant Pharmacy’s patient care services including medication therapy management, travel health clinics, and outreach programs including chronic disease management classes. She was also a faculty clinical specialist at the University of Maryland Medical Center’s Anti-thrombosis Center.
She teaches heavily in the skills-based laboratory series and previously served as Co-Director of the Pharmacy Practice Laboratories.
Her focuses are: scholarship of teaching, community-based pharmacy services, and immunizations, especially vaccine hesitancy. Tran is active in a number of professional pharmacy organizations including the American Pharmacists Association, American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, and Maryland Pharmacists Association.
