Julia Mahler

Julia is a PharmD Candidate ‘20 at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy. She received her BS in Environmental Science from University of Maryland, College Park. On Dr. Slejko’s research team, she has contributed to projects on statin prescribing trends, assessing factors such as generic availability and guideline changes. Currently, she is working on a project looking at COPD treatments options and patient values regarding their COPD medications.

This past summer, she worked as an Outcomes Research Intern at Express Scripts Department of Clinical Research and New Solutions. There, she analyzed cost and utilization data on HIV medications using pharmacy claims data. She also contributed to the development of a novel adherence metric for HIV medications. As a pharmacy student, she plays an active role in pharmacy advocacy through APhA-ASP. Her research interests include barriers to medication adherence, cost-effectiveness of medications, and health policy.
