Located in downtown Baltimore, the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) was one of the nation’s first academic medical centers. Today it provides a diverse array of health care services to patients throughout Maryland and the Mid-Atlantic region. It is a national and regional referral center for trauma, cancer care, cardiac care, neurosciences, women’s and children’s health, and organ transplantation.
Dr. Noel provides clinical pharmacy services for the Progressive Cardiac Care Service at UMMC, which is comprised of patients in the cardiac intensive care unit as well as the step-down units. The service cares for patients with acute coronary syndromes, acute decompensated heart failure, infective endocarditis, valvular heart disease, and arrhythmias. Dr. Noel’s contributions include: attending and participating in interdisciplinary and medical team rounds daily, obtaining medication histories, recommending changes in pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic regimens when appropriate, assisting with outpatient follow-up, planning and monitoring medications. Additionally, Dr. Noel provides discharge counseling, responds to drug information questions, and conducts medical in-services for the team on medical literature and treatment guidelines.
This service is also a rotation site for Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences for Students and University of Maryland Residents.
