Heart Failure Clinic

The Baltimore VA Medical Center is the acute medical and surgical care facility for the VA Maryland Health Care System and offers a full range of inpatient, outpatient and primary care services. As a modern health care facility, the Center offers veterans state-of-the-art technology and clinical services.
The Heart Failure Clinic provides care to complex heart failure patients. Dr. Watson’s involvement in this clinic includes a thorough evaluation of each patient she encounters, including chief compliant, history of present illness, past medical history, review of systems, physical examination, assessment of heart failure symptoms, and medication history with an assessment of patient compliance. Additionally, she makes therapeutic recommendations to the physicians to optimize patient medication regimens, counsel patients on medication therapy and non-pharmacological strategies to control their heart failure. Dr. Watson is also responsible for ordering medications, appropriate laboratory and other tests and consults, included in her scope of practice, when necessary.
This clinic is also a rotation site for Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences for Students and University of Maryland and surrounding area Residents.
