Ilene H. Zuckerman, PharmD, PhD, is professor and chair of the Department of Pharmaceutical Health Services Research (PHSR) at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy.
Dr. Zuckerman’s research focuses on improving drug therapy in vulnerable populations. Her personal goal is to prevent adverse health outcomes in older adults by optimizing medication use and adherence. Her expertise lies in analysis of large databases (including SEER, MCBS, Medicaid and Medicare data) and pharmacy records for comparative effectiveness, epidemiological and adherence studies. She is also a professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.
Dr. Zuckerman earned her BS (Pharmacy), PharmD and PhD (Epidemiology) degrees from the University of Maryland. In addition to her current role as chair of the PHSR Department, she has held several leadership positions at UMB, including associate dean of research and graduate education, and founder and executive director of Pharmaceutical Research Computing (PRC), a center within PHSR that provides computer programming, data management and analytic support for health services researchers.
