Dr. Hazem E. Hassan is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacometrics and Director of Pharmacokinetics and Biopharmaceutics Laboratory (PBL) at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy.
About Dr. Hassan:
Dr. Hassan received his B.Pharm degree (Summa Cum Laude) from Faculty of Pharmacy, Helwan University, Egypt. Then he joined UMSOP where he received his doctorate degree (Clin. Pharmacol and DMPK), his post-doctoral training (Clin. Pharmacol.) and then his Master’s degree (Pharmacometrics). Dr. Hassan has more than 14 years of experience in the field of clinical pharmacology, DMPK and drug development. He is a registered/certified controlled dangerous substances researcher by the State of Maryland and the US Department of Justice division of Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Dr. Hassan is actively serving on different capacities on several national committees including ASCPT, AAPS, ACCP and AACP (e.g., QP, DDDI, Educational and Pharmaceutics committees, respectively) and is currently the Co-Leader of the ASCPT-QP Hot Topics Initiative. Dr. Hassan received several national/international awards including the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS) award in Pharmacokinetics, Pharmacodynamics, and Drug Metabolism/Clinical Sciences (PPDM/CS), Dr. Ralph Shangrow award, Dr. Arthur Shwartz award and the Egyptian Government General Mission award. In 2004, he was inducted as a Rho Chi Honor Society Member and he has a joint appointment as an Associate Professor of Pharmaceutics in Faculty of Pharmacy, Helwan University, Egypt. Dr. Hassan is passionate about his research program and takes pride of being an active registered pharmacist by the American National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP).
