Past Residents

The residency program has a proud heritage of residents that have gone on to leadership roles in clinical practice, professional organizations and positions in academia.

Dr. Paul Ortiz (2013 – June)

Dr. Ortiz is an alumni of the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy. His interest in pursuing geriatrics began as a student while at Maryland. He was part of the first cohort of students to complete the Geriatrics and Palliative Care Pathway. He went on to complete his PGY1Residency in Pharmacy Practice at The Johns Hopkins Hospital- Bayview Medical Center, June 2013. He also completed the teaching certificate program with the University of Maryland during his PGY1 year and returned to his alma mater to complete the Geriatics Residency Program. Currently, Dr. Ortiz is a geriatric clinical pharmacist with Genesis Healthcare in Maryland. He is also an active member of the Maryland Chapter of the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists.

Dr. Kalin Clifford, PharmD (2012 – 2013)

Dr. Clifford is an alumni is Butler University (Go Bulldogs!). He completed his PGY1 Residency in Pharmacy Practice at Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus, Indiana. He completed the PGY2 Geriatrics Program the University of Maryland, June 2013. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice with the geriatrics division at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center at the Dallas campus.
