Dr. Amanda Schartel is an assistant professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Science (PPS) at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy.
Amanda Schartel, PharmD, BCACP, is an assistant professor of pharmacy practice and science at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy at the University of the Sciences. She then went on to complete a PGY1 pharmacy practice residency at the VA Connecticut Healthcare System and a PGY2 ambulatory care specialty residency at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy.
Dr. Schartel currently practices as an ambulatory care clinical pharmacist at the University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center, a community hospital in Glen Burnie, MD. She works with an interdisciplinary team in the Transitional Care Center taking care of recently discharged, medically complex patients who are at a high risk for readmission. Dr. Schartel also serves as a course manager for IPPE 200 Introduction to Patient Care, as well as an ambulatory care elective and a diabetes elective. Her research interests include transitions of care, barriers to medication adherence, medication management of chronic diseases, and interprofessional education in IPPEs and APPEs.
